About the position

Volunteer truck drivers are urgently needed at Matthew House ("MHO") Furniture Bank to drive our cube truck. 


Criminal Record Check required; must be at least 25 years old. 


One driver needed per day, weekdays. If you are a strong, hard-working and reliable team player we would love to discuss this opportunity with you!


MHO achieves their mission though two programs:


The Furniture Bank distributes quality used furniture and household goods to Ottawa’s marginalized population. In 2015, MHO provided free furniture and household goods to 605 families in Ottawa.


Refugee Services provides shelter, food, and refugee settlement assistance, including volunteer opportunities, in a family atmosphere to refugee claimants so that they may begin their journey to independence as members in Canadian society. In 2015, MHO provided a home for 24 refugee claimants from 14 countries.


How will this volunteer opportunity benefit you?:


The volunteer will:

  • Directly help Ottawa’s marginalized population

Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities:


Duties include: 

  • Loading and unloading furniture and housewares, 

  • Delivering to our clients' homes

  • Picking up donations.

Matthew House Ottawa: Refugee Services and Furniture Bank (MHO) is a faith-based, volunteer driven charity with the vision to be a transformative model of excellence caring for Ottawa’s marginalized population.

Impact

Matthew House Furniture Bank aims to help Ottawa's marginalized population establish connected,safe, healthy and dignified homes within our community. We do so by redistributing quality used furniture and household goods to Ottawa's marginalized population. The truck driver position is essential to help us to help them.
