About the position
Food insecurity has significantly increased during COVID-19 and Community Connect Toronto is committed to helping.
We are in need of a food packer volunteer to assist with organizing food hampers.
As a packer you will be responsible for unloading and organizing all donations received.
Community Connect Toronto (CCT), is a non-profit organization established in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially we were just a group of community members sharing resources and delivering items to a small number of families within the community. The need quickly grew and word spread of our activities and resources, and we increasingly got organized.
Shifts needed:
Monday to Thursday
Hours: 10 A.M. - 1: P.M. , 11 A.M. - 3 P.M., 12 P.M. - 4 P.M.
Requirements
Volunteer Food Packers will need to adhere to the following requirements:
Must be able to lift, carry, and move a minimum of 50 lbs
Must have general understanding of food safety protocols
Identifying and reporting spoiled foods to supervisor
Setting up and take down of food stations before after shift
Set up and breakdown of boxes
Maintain a healthy and clean work environment
About the organization
Community Connect Toronto ("CCT") was established in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. CCT is filling a big gap - to serve hungry neighbors!
Since our inception, CCT and our partners have proudly served 2000 families and 12k individuals (accounting for a 5.5 median per household), with a daily, volunteer run, delivery and pick up system; entirely with in-kind direct donations so far.
Impact
As a Volunteer Food Packer, you will be providing clients of Community Connect Toronto with healthy food hampers packed for their individual and family needs. You will be ensuring that no one who reaches out to our organization has to go hungry again.
