About the position

At Mkono, we believe that young entrepreneurs in low income countries hold the potential to achieve lasting change. These entrepreneurs are well positioned to drive social and economic benefits by creating employment or by developing solutions tailored to their reality. At Mkono, we connect people from all over the world to share knowledge and resources, in an effort to empower young entrepreneurs to bring the change they envision.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the UI/UX design of internally-developed software to streamline business operations.

  • Update Mkono.org using Weebly, including the visual of website pages and overall user interface, and ensure website content is up-to-date.

  • Provide and implement recommendations on how to improve the UX and UI of Mkono.org for mobile and desktop.

  • Interact closely with the tech and marketing teams.

Requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • UI / UX experience required.

  • Knowledge of Weebly and CSS coding preferred.

  • Proficient in front-end framework(s) (React, Vue, etc.).

  • Proficient in building single-page applications with visually appealing, simplistic designs.

  • Experience designing robust, scalable APIs.

  • Familiarity with Git, Webpack, Babel.

  • Knowledge of back-end framework(s) (HTML, CSS, JS) would be an asset.

  • Ability to work autonomously and hands-on.

  • Interest in Kenyan culture, entrepreneurship and microfinance.

  • High attention to detail, impeccable writing, and intellectual curiosity.

  • Be fluent in English, written and oral.

  • 2+ years of work experience.
