About the position

Our more than 400 volunteers are the heart of Circle of Care. Together, they bring caring, kindness, and dedication to their roles, and help enhance the quality of life of individuals in our community.

If you live or work in North York and have a minimum of 1-2 hours a week to spare, you can make a huge difference with a lonely older adult seeking companionship by visiting him or her in their own home! Clients and volunteers are matched with someone of similar interests and location is prioritized based on your requirements.

In this role you will visit and provide companionship to a senior who is isolated and lonely once a week.

The visits occur in the senior's home.

  • Compassionate

  • Reliable

  • Good communicator

  • Enjoys spending time with seniors

  • Languages such as Hebrew, Yiddish, Russian and Hungarian are helpful.

Availability

  • Approximately 1-2 hours per week.

About the organization

Circle of Care, part of Sinai Health, is a leading not-for-profit home care provider for individuals living in the Greater Toronto Area. Our staff and volunteers simplify everyday life for more than 16,000 clients and their families each year, helping them preserve their independence and live comfortably at home.

Impact

Keeping someone company on the way to an appointment, or even a quick phone call can help a lonely older adult get through their day. Social isolation can be hard for many in our community and you may be the only person they have contact with that day.
